In a shocking incident that has left the Kansas City community reeling, three frozen bodies were found in the backyard of a homeowner just two days after they had gathered to watch a Kansas City Chiefs game. According to the homeowner's attorney, their client had absolutely no knowledge of the unfolding tragedy that occurred in his own backyard earlier this month.
The deceased have been identified as Ricky Johnson, Clayton McGeeney, and David Harrington, all in their thirties. Friends and family members revealed that the trio had gathered at a friend's residence to enjoy the football game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers on the night of January 7.
Kansas City Police Department stated that the bodies were discovered at 9:51 p.m. on January 9, following a welfare check requested by one of the men's fiancée. The authorities clarified that they do not suspect foul play in the deaths of the three individuals.
Captain Jake Becchina of the Kansas City Police Department addressed the concerns of the public, stating, "First and foremost, this case is 100% NOT being investigated as a homicide." He further added, "There have not been any arrests or charges, and no one is in custody. The resident at the house was cooperative with detectives the day the deceased were discovered."
The exact cause of death is yet to be determined, and toxicology reports are expected to shed light on whether alcohol or drugs played a role. However, neighbors were shocked by the tragic turn of events, with Suzanne Reichart expressing her disbelief that she had no idea her neighbors were in such perilous circumstances.
Meanwhile, family and friends of the deceased have taken to social media, demanding answers and calling into question the homeowner's actions. Allegedly, they claim to have sent numerous messages to the homeowner in the days leading up to the police being called.
In response to these allegations, John Picerno, an attorney representing the homeowner, released a statement insisting that his client had no knowledge of his friends' demise until the police arrived. The attorney claimed that the homeowner did not hear two people who came searching for the men as he was allegedly sleeping with headphones and a loud fan. Additionally, Picerno mentioned that one of the men's wives had contacted his client on Facebook Messenger, but the message went unnoticed until after the police had made contact.
Picerno emphasized that the homeowner is deeply shaken, awaiting the autopsy and toxicology reports to understand the circumstances surrounding his friends' deaths. He expressed condolences on behalf of his client and his family, extending sympathies to the friends and family members of the deceased men.
The Kansas City community remains in shock as they await further developments in this tragic incident. As authorities continue their investigation, the hearts and prayers of the community go out to the grieving families and loved ones affected by this heartbreaking loss.
