Suspect Identified in Deadly Shooting at Paddock Mall

The Ocala Police Department has named a suspect in the tragic shooting incident that occurred at the Paddock Mall on Saturday. Albert J. Shell Jr., 39, is wanted for premeditated first-degree murder and attempted premeditated first-degree murder in connection with the death of David Nathaniel Barron and the injury of another individual.

After the incident, the police promptly released several photographs of a person of interest, seeking public assistance in identifying and locating the suspect. The shooting occurred at approximately 3:40 p.m. at the Paddock Mall, situated at 3100 SW College Road in Ocala.

Tragically, Barron succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while a woman sustained a gunshot wound to her leg. Thankfully, her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, and she is expected to recover.

Following the incident, the Paddock Mall has made the decision to remain closed until after Christmas. This closure serves to ensure the safety and well-being of visitors and staff while also allowing the authorities to conduct their investigations.
