In an update from the National Weather Service (NWS), it has been forecasted that Southern California will experience an increase in rain chances due to disturbances along a subtropical jet stream arriving midweek. This weather pattern is expected to result in heavier showers and scattered thunderstorms in several areas of the region.

According to weather officials, low pressure dropping south of the coast will further enhance the potential for rainfall on Thursday and Friday. The NWS outlined that Thursday would see an emphasis on showers and thunderstorms along the coast, with the probability of rain extending inland on Friday. In fact, there is even a slight chance of flash flooding on the forecast for Friday.

As the weekend approaches, the NWS predicts a dry-out, leading to a mild start to the forthcoming Christmas week. This forecast brings some respite to the region, which would have experienced significant rainfall earlier in the week.

The subtropical jet stream, combined with the arrival of disturbances, is expected to bring varying levels of precipitation to Southern California. Residents are advised to stay informed about the weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

As always, it is essential to follow the NWS and local authorities' advice regarding any severe weather warnings or advisories issued throughout the week. Stay prepared and stay safe during this period of increased rain chances in Southern California.
