Storage Vessels Fire Extinguished at White Lake Township Refinery Plant

White Lake Township, Michigan - Two loud explosions startled the residents of White Lake Township late in the evening on November 24. The blasts, which occurred at around 10:30 p.m., were followed by a fire at the junction of Young Road and Bogie Lake Road.
Upon receiving the emergency call, the White Lake Township Fire Department promptly deployed their personnel to the scene. There, they encountered a heavy fire emanating from two large storage vessels located on the north side of the Young Road refinery plant. The facility, owned and operated by Hound Resources, is primarily involved in crude oil recovery.
Firefighters battled the blaze for several hours with no reported incidents. They successfully managed to extinguish the fire, ensuring the safety of the surrounding areas. In response to social media speculation, the White Lake Township Fire Department clarified that there had been no recent hostile fires at the refinery location.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, as authorities seek to determine the events leading up to the explosions and subsequent blaze. Additionally, the Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) State of Michigan has been notified and is actively involved in the response efforts.
