In response to the arctic cold front that has gripped Colorado, multiple school districts have announced closures and delayed starts for Tuesday. Jeffco Public Schools, Aurora Public Schools, Westminster Public Schools, 27J Schools, Adams 14, Mapleton Public Schools, Weld RE-4 Windsor/Severance, Weld County RE-3J, Greeley Evans School District 6, and Johnstown-Milliken Re-5J are among the districts where schools will remain closed. Additionally, the mountain schools in the Boulder Valley School District will also be closed, while other schools in BVSD will operate on a delayed start.

Westminster School administrators proactively made the decision and informed families early on Sunday night, citing the National Weather Service's prediction of dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills on Tuesday morning. This gave families sufficient time to make alternative child care arrangements.

Jeffco Public Schools followed suit, announcing their closure early Monday afternoon. They explained their decision by highlighting the sustained low temperatures that are expected to persist until Tuesday. The closure will allow the district to assess and prepare their facilities to ensure the safety of their students.

The frigid conditions brought by the arctic cold front are expected to persist until Tuesday, with additional snowfall occurring on Monday. As a result, transportation and the overall well-being of students and staff are a concern for these school districts.

Parents and students are advised to stay updated on the closures and delayed starts, as some districts may have to make further announcements depending on the weather conditions. The list of school closures can be checked for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

As Colorado deals with this extreme weather event, the safety and well-being of students remains the top priority for these school districts.
