In a fiery confrontation during a bipartisan visit to Israel, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) clashed with a Newsmax reporter, Daniel Cohen, for attempting to incite criticism of Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) over her recent remarks regarding the al-Ahli Arab hospital attack. The incident occurred during a press briefing in Tel Aviv, where senators had gathered to show support for Israel.

The altercation reached an intense level, with Graham and Cohen engaging in a heated screaming match, which ultimately led Graham to demand Cohen's removal. However, Israeli security personnel present at the event disregarded the senator's request, allowing Cohen to remain.

Cohen, who introduced himself as an American who had immigrated to Israel with his family two years ago, expressed gratitude to the senators on stage for their support. However, he then pushed to hear the Democrat senators' stance on Tlaib's recent Twitter post, in which she blamed Israel for the Gaza hospital bombing. Despite subsequent statements by President Joe Biden and other U.S. officials, who indicated that intelligence did not support Tlaib's claims, she chose to leave the post intact.

Graham quickly shut down Cohen's line of questioning, insisting that the press briefing was not the place to discuss domestic issues. He passionately emphasized the need to remain united in support of Israel and declared, "You're not going to screw this up. Get this guy out of here."

In subsequent interviews with Newsmax, Cohen expressed his disappointment with the senators' reluctance to condemn Tlaib and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who both made similar statements on social media. Cohen's frustration stemmed from the senators' failure to address the actions of Hamas, particularly the October 7 attack that claimed the lives of over 1,400 Israelis.

However, Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) offered a different perspective, questioning why any member of Congress or anyone else would not condemn Hamas for its actions. Collins expressed her belief that it is essential to hold accountable those who support or fail to condemn such acts of violence.

Sen. Graham, along with Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Cory Booker (D-NJ), Katie Britt (R-AL), Ben Cardin (D-MD), Chris Coons (D-DE), Jack Reed (D-RI), Dan Sullivan (D-AK), and John Thune (R-SD), stood together at the press conference to show their united support for Israel.

While partisan tensions ran high during the press briefing, the bipartisan delegation remained focused on their shared commitment to fostering a strong relationship between the United States and Israel. Despite the confrontation, the senators conveyed their solidarity with Israel and their determination to work toward a peaceful resolution in the region.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges in bridging political divisions when discussing sensitive international matters and showcases the passion and determination of figures like Senator Lindsey Graham to protect and support key alliances abroad.
