LAS VEGAS - Lee Canyon, a popular ski resort located in the Spring Mountains, remains closed as search and rescue efforts persist following an avalanche on Monday. The public is urged to stay away from the area as a winter storm warning remains in effect until 10 p.m., with more snowfall expected.

According to Clark County, State Route 156, also known as Lee Canyon Road, is closed at U.S. 95. Similarly, State Route 158, or Deer Creek Road, is closed to the visiting public. State Route 157, also known as Kyle Canyon Road, is closed at the Deer Creek Road junction. These closures are necessary to ensure the safety of individuals attempting to access the affected area.

Furthermore, a power outage struck the mountain at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Monday, affecting 462 customers. NV Energy is diligently working to restore power for those impacted by the outage, despite the challenging weather conditions.

The primary focus of search efforts is to locate anyone who may still be trapped in the aftermath of the avalanche. While all Lee Canyon personnel and ticketed customers have been accounted for, search and rescue teams are combing the mountain as a precautionary measure to ensure that nobody unreported is missing.

As the search continues, it is important for the public to respect the closure of Lee Canyon and avoid venturing into the Spring Mountains. The winter storm warning signifies the potential for further dangerous conditions, making it imperative for everyone's safety to stay away until the area is deemed safe.

Authorities will provide updates on the situation as more information becomes available. For now, the community is encouraged to lend their support and cooperation to the ongoing search and rescue efforts in Lee Canyon.

Stay tuned for further updates on the closure of Lee Canyon and the progress of search operations as Clark County and emergency responders continue their dedicated efforts to restore safety to the area.
