In a shocking revelation, renowned Republican operative and close ally of former President Donald Trump, Roger Stone, has been reported to have called for the death of two prominent Democratic congressmen in 2020. Stone's remarks were allegedly captured in a recorded conversation at a Florida restaurant, as reported by Mediaite.
Stone is said to have stated, "It's time to do it. Let's go find Swalwell. It's time to do it. Then we'll see how brave the rest of them are. It's time to do it. It's either Nadler or Swalwell has to die before the election. They need to get the message. Let's go find Swalwell and get this over with. I'm just not putting up with this shit any more."
The targeted congressmen are Eric Swalwell, a prominent anti-Trump voice, and Jerry Nadler, who oversaw Trump's first impeachment as the judiciary chair. Nadler had announced his committee's intention to investigate Trump's commutation of Stone's sentence in relation to the Russian election interference investigation.
According to Mediaite, the remarks were made to an associate of Stone's, Sal Greco, who was a serving New York police officer at the time but was eventually fired. Greco claims his dismissal was due to his association with Stone.
Stone, a veteran political operative and self-proclaimed "dirty trickster," has been widely investigated for his connections with far-right groups, including the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, which were involved in the Capitol attack on January 6, 2021.
An anonymous source cited by Mediaite expressed concern about Stone's consistent discussions of violence, stating, "It was definitely concerning that he was constantly planning violence with an NYPD officer and other militia groups."
Stone has previously faced scrutiny for remarks regarding prosecutor Aaron Zelinsky, stating that he needed to be "punished." He would later dismiss those comments as generated by artificial intelligence.
Stone vehemently denies the allegations made against him, calling them "total nonsense" and "more AI manipulation." He challenged Mediaite to produce the alleged tape of his conversation.
As of now, representatives of Jerry Nadler and Eric Swalwell have not responded to requests for comment from The Guardian.
The reported remarks by Stone have raised serious concerns about the level of political rhetoric and the potential for violence in the United States. The investigation into Stone's actions and associations will undoubtedly continue as authorities seek to ensure the safety and integrity of the democratic process.
