New Delhi - In the aftermath of the Winter Session of Parliament, Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar addressed the recent ruckus caused by opposition parties. Dhankhar condemned the repeated personal attacks against him and expressed his unwavering commitment to following the path of righteousness.
The controversy was sparked by a viral video showing Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee, purportedly mocking the Vice-President by imitating his mannerisms during a mock sitting of the House. In the video, Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader, was seen recording the act on his mobile phone. Dhankhar strongly criticized their conduct, deeming it "shameful and unacceptable."
Speaking at the Upa-Rashtrapati Nivas while addressing the Indian Statistical Service Probationers of the 2023 batch, Dhankhar underlined his resilience in the face of such personal attacks. "Even in my constitutional position as Chairman, Rajya Sabha & Vice-President, people don't spare me! Should that change my mindset? Should that result in deviation from my path? No! On the path of righteousness, we must always proceed!" he asserted.
Acknowledging the challenges he has faced, Dhankhar reiterated his dedication to serving Bharat Mata. "I am a sufferer! A sufferer knows how to withstand from within, taking all upfront, enduring all insults, with one direction - we are in the service of our Bharat Mata," he stated. Encouraging others not to be deterred by criticism, Dhankar urged everyone to take pride in their achievements.
Highlighting his discontent with chronic critics, the Vice-President advocated for a culture of dialogue and cooperation. "Never be deterred by those who have poor digestive systems for our growth. They are chronic critics. Nothing is more dangerous than a knowledgeable man who knows the truth but does not speak it. He exploits the ignorance of others for political equity," Dhankhar remarked.
He emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration for the progress of the nation. "Our culture is - talk, dialogue, don't fight, don't confront, cooperate! This is everyone's country, everyone will develop together," he concluded.
Dhankhar's unwavering stance against personal attacks during his address serves as a testament to his commitment to upholding the sanctity of his position, despite the attempts to undermine him. As the country moves forward, his call for dialogue and cooperation holds great significance in fostering a harmonious political environment.
