According to reports, emergency services were called to the scene following an "incident" at Wright's home in Marylebone, west London.

The 69-year-old broadcaster, who had a career spanning more than four decades, was pronounced dead on-site. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

The news of Wright's passing was announced by his family on Tuesday, bringing sadness to the millions of devoted radio listeners who had the pleasure of welcoming him into their daily lives. Just two days prior to his death, Wright had pre-recorded a Valentine's Day Special of his popular show, Sunday Love Songs, which aired on Radio 2. During his last broadcast, he assured his fans that he would be "back for more love songs" the following Sunday.

Tributes poured in from all corners, with BBC director-general Tim Davie leading the commendations. Davie described Wright as "a truly wonderful broadcaster who has been a huge part of so many of our lives over many decades."

Wright's Marylebone flat was located within close proximity to the BBC's Broadcasting House, where he plied his trade. Following the news, floral tributes were left outside the Radio 2 studios, serving as a testament to the impact he had on the broadcasting community.

Neighbors and acquaintances also expressed their sorrow, labeling Wright as a "lovely guy." The Metropolitan Police confirmed that they were alerted to the incident at 10:19 am on Monday, with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service also attending the scene. A man in his 60s, later identified as Wright, was sadly pronounced dead.

The London Ambulance Service spokesman stated that they received reports of the incident at 10:07 am on Monday and dispatched multiple resources to the scene. Unfortunately, the individual was declared dead on arrival.
