This follows the initial recall that was issued on December 15, 2024.

Initially, the recall covered 25 types of the company's "Chewy" granola bars, eight varieties of "Chewy"-branded granola cereal, and nine snack boxes containing these granola bars with "best before" dates ranging from March to August of 2024. Customers were urged to check the full list of affected products, including their UPC codes and best before dates.

The updated recall alert remains consistent with the earlier announcement, but now includes a wider range of "Chewy"-branded granola and cereal products. Additionally, products commonly associated with kids' breakfast staples like Cap'n Crunch sugar cereals, cereal bars, oatmeal, and even a Gatorade-branded protein bar have been added to the warning list. The expanded recall encompasses six "Chewy" granola bars, four Cap'n Crunch cereal bars, 10 breakfast cereals, two varieties of Cap'n Crunch oatmeal, a Gatorade-branded protein bar, and a "Munchies Snack Mix" with best before dates ranging from January 11, 2024, to October 1, 2024.

This marks the eleventh FDA food recall in 2024, with the United States experiencing almost one recall per day since the beginning of the year. As Salmonella contamination poses a serious health risk, consumers are advised to review the list of affected products and take necessary precautions to avoid consuming them.

Quaker Oats is working diligently with regulatory authorities to resolve the issue promptly and ensure the safety of its customers. Customers who have purchased any of the affected products are encouraged to return them to the point of purchase for a full refund or dispose of them safely.

Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps, and vomiting. Individuals experiencing these symptoms after consuming the recalled products are advised to seek medical attention.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) urges consumers to stay vigilant and regularly check for product recalls to ensure the safety of their food consumption.
