Prince William was spotted putting a reassuring arm around his wife Kate during a reception at Buckingham Palace this afternoon. The Prince and Princess of Wales, who rarely show public displays of affection, couldn't resist cosying up to each other after Kate let her hair down at the royal residence.
The couple appeared loved-up during the lavish reception held to welcome president Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon Hee of South Korea in London. William was seen placing his hand on Kate's lower back, and Kate reciprocated the sweet gesture by placing her hand on her husband's back before holding his hand.
Kate, known for her elegant fashion sense, looked chic in a £3,000 caped red coat from Catherine Walker and Gianvito Rossi shoes. To add glamour to her look, she sported a pair of Princess Diana's sapphire and diamond oval drop earrings. The princess had earlier worn her hair up in a sleek bun under a hat by Jane Taylor but let them down, allowing loose curls to fall down her shoulders, showcasing a more relaxed appearance.
The royal couple, appearing relaxed and happy, walked hand in hand through the room full of dignitaries. It is rare for the Prince and Princess of Wales to display such affection in public, taking example from Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, who did not hold hands in public.
Earlier in the day, Kate and William, along with President Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon Hee, attended a ceremonial welcome at Horse Guards Parade. They were greeted by King and Queen, and a guard of honor consisting of the Scots Guards. The royal family and their guests departed from Horse Guards Parade in carriages, with the King and President riding in The Irish State Coach and the Queen and First Lady in The Australian State Coach. Prince William and Kate Middleton rode in The Scottish State Coach with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, Choo Kyungho.
Later, at Buckingham Palace, a Guard of Honour, led by 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, received Their Majesties, Their Excellencies, and Their Royal Highnesses with a Royal Salute as they arrived. A banquet, attended by 170 guests, was held in the opulent Palace ballroom, customary for state visits.
This rare public display of affection by Prince William and Kate Middleton has delighted royal watchers and fans, showcasing their strong bond and love for each other. Their presence at the reception honoring the South Korean president's state visit has further enhanced the diplomatic ties between the two nations.
The Prince and Princess of Wales continue to captivate the world with their grace, style, and devotion to their duties as representatives of the British royal family.
