In a recent address to the BJP parliamentary party meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the people's most preferred choice for governance in India. Citing poll data spanning several decades, PM Modi highlighted the BJP's impressive record of retaining power compared to other parties, particularly the Congress.

According to the Prime Minister, the Congress faced assembly polls 40 times while in power, but could only secure victory in seven states. This dismal success rate of 18 percent stands in stark contrast to the BJP's achievement of emerging victorious in 22 out of 39 such elections, boasting a success rate of 56 percent.

While acknowledging the better performance of regional parties when compared to the Congress, PM Modi pointed out that they still fell short of the BJP's success rate. Regional parties have won 18 out of 36 assembly elections, achieving a success rate of 50 percent, which is lower than that of the BJP.

PM Modi also highlighted the disparity in success rates between the Congress and BJP in the case of parties in power for two terms facing assembly elections. The Congress' success rate stood at a mere 14 percent, while the BJP's soared to an impressive 59 percent.

These statistics, according to the Prime Minister, indicate that the BJP is the most preferred party for governing the country. He attributed the party's success in the recent assembly elections to "team spirit" rather than any single leader.

While addressing party leaders, Prime Minister Modi also underscored the growth of the BJP's presence in Telangana and Mizoram, despite not securing victory in these states. In Telangana, the BJP's tally increased from one to eight seats, with a considerable vote share of nearly 14 percent. In Mizoram, the BJP managed to secure two seats, surpassing the Congress by one seat, despite having a vote share of 5.06 percent.

The recent assembly elections in the Hindi heartland states further cemented the BJP's position as a strong political force. The party swept the polls in Madhya Pradesh, winning 163 out of 230 seats and securing a landslide two-thirds majority. In Rajasthan, the BJP secured 115 out of 199 seats, while in Chhattisgarh, it won 54 seats in the 90-member assembly.

PM Modi's address to the party leaders reaffirmed the BJP's growing popularity as the people's most preferred choice for governance. The party's remarkable success rate in retaining power, along with its expanded presence in several states, showcases its prominence on the national political landscape.
