Preliminary 4.4 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Southern California Coast

A preliminary magnitude 4.4 earthquake struck in the ocean, approximately 80 miles west of San Diego County, on Monday, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Occurring just before 2:45 a.m., the earthquake's epicenter was about 25 miles south of San Clemente Island, with a depth of approximately 3.75 miles.
The USGS's "Did you Feel It" reporting tool indicated that the quake was felt across San Diego County, extending into parts of Orange and Los Angeles counties. Reports of shaking were also received from residents in Temecula and Murrieta.
Thankfully, there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries attributed to the earthquake. Additionally, no tsunami warning was issued in response to the seismic activity.
