This weekend's brief taste of spring weather will be replaced by a return to winter conditions as a potential snowstorm looms over the Delaware Valley. The National Weather Service has issued warnings predicting a mixture of snow, rain, and wintry conditions late Monday night into Tuesday.

According to forecasts, the transition to potential snow will begin on Monday as temperatures drop into the 40s. Soaking rain is expected to start after dinner and gradually turn into a mix before transforming into snow around midnight. The most significant snowfall is anticipated to begin at dawn on Tuesday.

The Poconos, Philadelphia's north and west suburbs, and parts of South Jersey are likely to witness snow, while Philadelphia and the I-95 corridor can expect a light wintry mix of snow and rain. The Poconos are projected to receive at least 6 inches of snow, with Berks, Lehigh Valley, and Upper Bucks expected to accumulate 3 or more inches. Winter Storm Watches have already been issued for the Poconos, as well as Berks, Upper Bucks, Lehigh, and Northampton counties.

Meteorologists predict that the I-95 corridor, including Philadelphia, is unlikely to see significant snow accumulation. Most of South Jersey is expected to experience mainly rain during the storm.

In addition to the precipitation, there are concerns about coastal flooding. A Coastal Flood Watch has been put in place for moderate flooding along most of the Jersey beaches and minor flooding along the Delaware beaches and inland areas along the Delaware River.

Adding to the volatile weather conditions, strong winds are forecasted for early Tuesday. Damaging gusts of up to 30 to 40 mph are likely to affect the entire region throughout the day.

If the storm materializes as predicted, Valentine's Day could bring an opportunity for couples to cuddle up and enjoy the snowfall, or they might find themselves shoveling snow instead.

Stay tuned for further updates and necessary precautions as the potential snowstorm approaches the Delaware Valley.
