Portland, Oregon - A powerful winter storm swept through the city over the weekend, leaving tens of thousands of people without electricity on Monday morning. The storm brought heavy snow, icy conditions, and strong winds, resulting in numerous power outages caused by downed power lines and fallen trees.

According to reports, the storm's impact was at its highest point on Saturday, with over 150,000 customers left without power in the midst of the freezing weather. Despite efforts to restore power, more than 70,000 customers of Portland General Electric were still in the dark by Monday morning. Additionally, around 7,800 Pacific Power customers across the state were also affected.

The severe weather conditions presented significant challenges for utility crews working to repair the damaged power infrastructure. The strong winds had knocked over power lines, while falling trees had taken out others, exacerbating the outages across the region.

Residents, many of whom were already dealing with freezing temperatures, faced increasingly difficult circumstances with the prolonged loss of electricity. Without power, heating systems were inoperable, posing a threat to the well-being of those affected.

Local authorities and utility companies have been working tirelessly to restore power to affected areas. Crews have been deployed to various locations to assess the damage and begin repairs, prioritizing areas with the highest number of outages.

In the meantime, residents are advised to take necessary precautions, including layering up and seeking shelter in warm locations if they have been without power for an extended period. Local emergency services are on high alert, providing support and assistance to those in need.

As the recovery efforts continue, affected residents are urged to contact their respective utility companies for updates on power restoration in their areas. The community's resilience and support for one another during this challenging time exemplify the spirit of Portland.

It remains crucial for residents to stay informed through official channels and comply with safety instructions provided by authorities until power is fully restored.
