Northeast Wisconsin experienced a major snowfall on January 12-13, with many areas receiving over a foot of snow. The snowfall, accompanied by strong winds, resulted in towering snow drifts throughout the region, making it crucial for residents to take necessary precautions.

First Alert Weather meteorologist Bo Fogal advises residents to clear their driveways and sidewalks on Saturday, before the frigid, single-digit temperatures cause the snow to freeze and become harder to remove. It is also important to take breaks while shoveling the heavy snow and to avoid using hands or feet to clear snow from a snowblower, opting for safer tools like an ice scraper or a broom handle.

According to reports from the National Weather Service and First Alert Weather spotters, several locations in Northeast Wisconsin recorded significant snowfall amounts. Suamico in Brown County reported the highest snowfall of 18.0 inches, followed closely by Howard in the same county with 17.0 inches. Institute in Door County received 16.0 inches, while Millhome in Manitowoc County recorded 15.1 inches of snow.

Luxemburg in Kewaunee County and Oneida in Brown County both received 15.0 inches of snow, while Sturgeon Bay in Door County accumulated 14.4 inches. Horicon in Dodge County reported 14.0 inches, followed by Ashwaubenon in Brown County and Clintonville in Waupaca County, both with 13.5 inches of snow.

Residents in De Pere and Allouez in Brown County received 13.0 inches of snow, while Sister Bay in Door County recorded 12.8 inches. Other notable snowfall measurements include 12.3 inches in Scandinavia, Waupaca County, 12.0 inches in Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, Calumet, and Ripon, and 11.7 inches in Two Rivers, Manitowoc County.

Green Bay itself accumulated 11.0 inches of snow, and High Cliff State Park in Calumet County reported 11.0 inches as well. Oconto Falls in Oconto County received 10.7 inches, while Beaver Dam in Dodge County and Oshkosh in Winnebago County both recorded 10.4 inches of snow.

Residents in Shiocton, Outagamie County, Manitowoc in Manitowoc County, and Wild Rose in Waushara County received 10.0 inches of snow. Other areas with substantial snowfall include Potter in Calumet County with 9.5 inches, Omro in Winnebago County with 9.0 inches, and Fremont in Winnebago County with 8.0 inches.

Although these snowfall amounts are from official reports, it is essential to note that individual yards may vary due to drifting snow. Additionally, stray showers may add another inch or so of snow on Saturday.

As Northeast Wisconsin residents begin the process of clearing snow and ensuring their safety, it is recommended to stay updated on weather advisories and take necessary precautions to stay safe in these extreme winter conditions.
