Winter storm warnings and advisories have been issued across Northeast Ohio as a strong winter storm moves through the region, bringing significant snowfall. As of 11 a.m., much of the area woke up to several inches of snow on the ground, and the snowfall is expected to continue throughout the day.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 10 p.m. Saturday for Ashtabula, Geauga, and Lake counties, which are located in the primary snowbelt. These areas could see up to a foot of snow by the end of the storm. The rest of the counties, including Cuyahoga, Erie, Huron, Lorain, Medina, and Summit, are under a storm warning until 4 a.m. Saturday, with an additional 3 to 6 inches of snow expected.

Several other counties, including Ashland, Crawford, Holmes, Ottawa, Richland, Sandusky, and Wayne, are under a Winter Weather Advisory until 7 p.m. Friday. These areas could see accumulations of 2-6 inches of snow. The Winter Weather Advisory for Carroll, Coshocton, Mahoning, Portage, Stark, Trumbull, and Tuscarawas Counties will run until 10 a.m. Saturday.

The snowfall is expected to continue steadily throughout the day, with most areas receiving an additional 3-6 inches of snow. Some areas south of Akron and Canton may see less than 4 inches of additional snow. The intensity of the snowfall is expected to be moderate to heavier around midday, with a stronger band moving through.

As Friday progresses, the snow will gradually shift to a lake effect pattern, with a northerly wind contributing to this phenomenon. Additional accumulations are expected Friday evening and night, especially in areas where the bands of snow persist. Spotty lake effect snowfall will continue through midday Saturday.

Residents of Northeast Ohio are urged to exercise caution while traveling, as the heavy snowfall and reduced visibility can create hazardous driving conditions. Snow removal crews are working diligently to clear the roads, but it is advised to allow for extra travel time and to drive defensively.

In addition to the snow, there is a possibility of a Wind Chill Advisory for counties west of Cleveland on Saturday. Residents are advised to stay updated on the weather conditions through reliable sources for any further alerts or advisories.

The winter storm is expected to continue through Saturday, with additional lake-effect snowfall in some areas. Some locations may experience heavier snowfall accompanied by breaks of sun. As the storm progresses, it is important to stay prepared and follow any instructions or warnings from local authorities.
