Multiple Rescues Made as Vehicle Swept into Creek in North Austin

AUSTIN, Texas - Emergency crews sprang into action on Sunday morning after a vehicle was swept off the roadway and into a creek in north Austin. The incident occurred at approximately 7:13 a.m. in the 1100 block of Rutland Drive, near Quail Creek Neighborhood Park.
A coordinated response involving Austin-Travis County EMS, the Austin Police Department, Austin Fire Department, and STAR Flight quickly ensued. The Austin Fire Department swiftly initiated rescue operations to aid those stranded in nearby trees, while also ensuring the safe retrieval of the driver of the stranded vehicle.
As the search continued, responders discovered another vehicle that had been overturned in the creek. However, due to the water levels, a thorough search of the vehicle will only be possible once the waters recede, as stated by ATCEMS officials.
During the rescue efforts, two individuals were successfully retrieved from the water by the emergency crews. Fortunately, both individuals did not require transportation to the hospital, indicating they did not sustain any significant injuries.
Following the incident, the Texas Department of Transportation issued a reminder to all drivers to exercise caution and avoid driving into areas with pooling or rushing water.
