In a recent podcast episode of "Behind the Table," comedian Matt Rogers opened up about his views on the talk show "The View" and some of the uncomfortable dynamics that he believes plagued the show in the past. Rogers, known for his appearance on "The View" where he playfully called out Joy Behar for being barefoot on an airplane, delved deeper into his thoughts during the podcast discussion.

During the conversation, Rogers expressed his appreciation for the show's ability to have discussions without becoming overly defensive or personal. Without explicitly mentioning anyone, he commended the show's decision to fill Meghan McCain's conservative seat with Alyssa Farah Griffin when the show debuted in 2022. Rogers stated, "I really like that the conversations can be had, and without anyone - and I'm not going to name any names - without getting super defensive or personal, so that when you're watching it, you don't feel in a state of anxiety or discomfort."

However, panelist Sara Haines interjected, suggesting that "uncomfortable" was the word Rogers was looking for. Rogers also mentioned that he had taken a break from watching the show because of the previous Hot Topics table dynamic that made him feel anxious. He wanted conversations to be productive and respectful, where ideas could be challenged without the need for personal attacks.

Although executive producer Brian Teta acknowledged that Rogers could have been referring to various individuals who previously worked on the program, Haines echoed the sentiment, acknowledging that it was indeed uncomfortable at times.

The podcast episode conversation sheds light on the sometimes contentious nature of the show in the past. Meghan McCain, daughter of the late Senator John McCain, joined "The View" as a permanent cohost in 2017 and announced her departure in late 2021. Her time on the show was marked by heated exchanges with other cohosts, including a memorable clash with Joy Behar following McCain's return from maternity leave. The confrontation culminated in Behar expressing that she didn't miss McCain while she was away.

Since leaving the show, McCain has been candid about her experience as a cohost, expressing that she was "the most miserable" she's ever been during her time on the series. The departure of McCain and the introduction of new voices like Alyssa Farah Griffin have likely shifted the dynamics on the show, as highlighted by Rogers' positive remarks.

"The View" continues to be a popular talk show, airing weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC. The discussion between Matt Rogers and Sara Haines can be listened to on the "Behind the Table" podcast episode. As of now, there has been no comment from Meghan McCain's representative on the matter.
