FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A man has appeared in Broward County court, facing charges related to a false airport threat that led to the evacuation of the upper level of Terminal 1 at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

On Sunday, Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) initiated the evacuation of the upper level of FLL Terminal 1 at approximately 5:25 p.m. The extensive operation continued for over three hours, with the area eventually being cleared at around 8:45 p.m. The incident, which took place at 50 Terminal Drive, caused panic and disrupted travel at the airport.

Deputies on the scene detained a suspect, identified as Tyler Baeder, during the course of their investigation at FLL. According to BSO inmate records, Baeder, 27 years old, was arrested and held at the North Broward Bureau. He appeared in Broward County bond court on Monday morning, where he was charged with making a false report of a bomb and resisting arrest without violence. Baeder is currently being held without bond, as per available records.

As of Monday evening, BSO had not yet publicly confirmed Baeder's involvement in the incident. However, detectives are urging those with any information regarding the case to contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.

This is a developing story, and Local 10 News is actively seeking Baeder's arrest form. Contributions to this report were made by Local 10 News Photojournalist Wade Hughes.

The incident at FLL Terminal 1 serves as a reminder of the serious consequences that false reports of threats can have, disrupting and endangering the traveling public. Authorities remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of airports, actively investigating any potential threats to protect both passengers and staff.
