Man Arrested, Weapons Seized After Fatal Shooting at Urbana Supermarket

Authorities apprehended a man and confiscated a handgun and an assault rifle following a deadly shooting at a supermarket in Urbana, as reported by the Frederick County Sheriff's Office. Law enforcement responded to the incident at the Giant on Sugarloaf Parkway after receiving a call at approximately 11:11 p.m. on Saturday.
Tragically, one person lost their life in the shooting, and the identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of their family.
On Sunday, the sheriff's office announced the arrest of a man named Frederick Owusu Sakyi, aged 33 and from Walkersville. The authorities discovered the firearms in Sakyi's vehicle during the arrest. Initial findings from the investigation suggest that the shooting may have been related to domestic matters.
Sakyi was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing and booking.
Since the incident occurred, the Urbana shopping center, where the Giant supermarket is situated, has been reopened to the public.
