Denver, CO - Winter is set to make a grand entrance in Denver following the Thanksgiving celebrations. Meteorologists at the National Weather Service in Boulder have issued a warning about a snowstorm and a significant cooldown that will affect the city from Thursday night until Saturday. This weather event is expected to bring freezing temperatures to the region, with travel disruptions anticipated during the busy holiday weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, Denver residents can enjoy relatively mild weather before Thanksgiving. High temperatures for Tuesday and Wednesday are forecasted to reach 54 and 67 degrees, respectively. This is approximately 15 degrees warmer than the average temperature for this time of year.

However, on Thursday, a significant cooldown will begin, with temperatures dropping by 20 degrees. Despite the drop in temperature, the day is expected to be mostly dry and cloudy. The real action is predicted to start on Thursday night, with an 80% chance of snowfall. This snowfall is forecasted to continue through Friday, with another 20-degree drop in temperatures. Highs of 26 degrees are expected on both Friday and Saturday, with a low of 14 degrees on Friday night.

As of now, forecasters are unable to provide precise predictions regarding snowfall totals, specific storm timing, and areas with the highest accumulations. However, they expect to have more detailed information in the following days as the weekend approaches. Travelers are advised to stay updated on local forecasts and remain weather aware to mitigate any potential risks.

This winter weather system is part of two main storm systems impacting the nation, bringing rain, thunderstorms, and winter weather to various regions. The National Weather Service Weather Prediction Center urges everyone to keep a close eye on the weather conditions and to take necessary precautions, especially during the Thanksgiving week.

With a major snowstorm and frigid temperatures on the horizon, Denver residents and travelers should prepare for potentially hazardous conditions and anticipate travel disruptions throughout the weekend. Stay tuned to local weather updates and exercise caution during this wintry episode.
