Major Fire Erupts at Tradebe Environmental Services Facility in Bridgeport

Bridgeport, Connecticut - Emergency crews swiftly responded to a large explosion and subsequent fire at the Tradebe Environmental Services facility located on Cross Street, according to city officials. The incident initially confused reports, as it was erroneously reported to have occurred at Standard Oil, but it was quickly clarified by city authorities.

Authorities confirmed that three individuals were injured in the incident and have been transported to Bridgeport Hospital. A hospital spokesperson stated that the injured are currently in fair or stable condition. One person is being treated for burns, while the other two are receiving medical attention for smoke inhalation, as disclosed by a city official.

Mayor Joe Ganim of Bridgeport took to social media, posting two videos on Facebook from close proximity to the scene. In his posts, Mayor Ganim urged people to avoid the area and advised those already in the vicinity to wear masks due to the thick smoke emanating from the fire. The City of Bridgeport echoed this sentiment in a Facebook post, urging residents to stay indoors to minimize exposure to the pervasive smoke.

In response to the blaze, fire crews from neighboring municipalities Stratford and Fairfield have also been called in to assist the efforts in controlling the fire. As a result, several streets have been closed to ensure the safety of emergency responders and nearby residents.
