Title: MacKenzie Scott Donates Over $16.5 Billion as Amazon Stake Dwindles

In a regulatory filing, it has been revealed that MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, unloaded 65.3 million shares in Amazon.com Inc. last year, reducing her stake in the company by about a quarter. The value of these shares at Friday's closing price would have amounted to a staggering $10.4 billion.

Following her high-profile divorce from Bezos in 2019, Scott retained approximately 4% ownership in the tech giant, which, at the time, was valued at around $37 billion. Despite gradually selling off a significant portion of her Amazon shares over the past five years, Bloomberg Billionaires Index reports that the company still constitutes the majority of her net worth, which currently stands at $37.6 billion.

However, it is worth noting that Scott's fortune could have been even greater if she had not engaged in extraordinary acts of philanthropy. Since her divorce, Scott has made generous donations to numerous charitable causes, surpassing the $16.5 billion mark. Her website offers a detailed list of more than 360 organizations that have received a total of $2.15 billion in the past year alone.

Scott's commitment to philanthropy was further solidified in 2019 when she signed the Giving Pledge, a voluntary commitment undertaken by billionaires to donate the majority of their wealth. In a heartfelt letter on the Giving Pledge website, she stated, "In addition to whatever assets life has nurtured in me, I have a disproportionate amount of money to share. My approach to philanthropy will continue to be thoughtful... But I won't wait. And I will keep at it until the safe is empty."

It is notable, however, that despite his massive wealth, Jeff Bezos has not formally signed the Giving Pledge. Nevertheless, in a recent interview with CNN, Bezos confirmed his intentions to donate a significant portion of his wealth.

As Scott's Amazon stake diminishes, her commitment to philanthropy shines brightly, leaving a significant impact on the lives of thousands of individuals and communities around the world.
