In a concerning development, law enforcement agencies are facing an unprecedented rise in threats targeting elected and judicial officials, as well as their own personnel, according to Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco. During an interview on ABC's "This Week," Monaco revealed that investigators are closely monitoring the alarming spike in threats across the board.

Monaco stated that threats have been directed towards a range of public officials, including law enforcement agents, prosecutors, judges, and election officials. She emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, "Just this week, Pierre, we've had cases involving threats to kill FBI agents, a Supreme Court justice, and three presidential candidates."

Highlighting the scale of the issue, Monaco explained that urgent reports detailing these threats are regularly received from U.S. attorneys nationwide. While some cases are resolved without incident, many develop into full-fledged investigations. Currently, the FBI has opened more than 100 investigations stemming from these reports.

This dire warning from Monaco follows FBI Director Christopher Wray's testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where he described the presence of "blinking lights everywhere" indicating potential terror attacks. Monaco echoed these concerns, describing the current threat environment as "very challenging" and highlighting the influence of online radicalization and diverse ideologies.

However, amidst these rising threats, some Republican lawmakers have accused the FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) of political bias in their investigations, particularly in relation to former President Donald Trump and Hunter Biden, the son of current President Joe Biden. Monaco dismissed these accusations, stating that they bear no resemblance to the Justice Department she knows. She emphasized that the DOJ is comprised of dedicated individuals who work diligently regardless of who is in the White House or Congress.

Furthermore, Monaco denied allegations that President Biden has attempted to influence investigations involving his son or the examination of his handling of classified documents during his time as a senator. These claims, she argued, do a disservice to the hardworking men and women of the Justice Department.

Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco has previously faced criticism and derogatory comments from former President Trump on his new social media platform, Truth Social. In a recent post, Trump referred to Monaco and other DOJ officials as a "team of losers and misfits."

As threats against public officials persist and law enforcement agencies remain on high alert, the question of how to address this concerning trend and ensure the safety of those in positions of power continues to be a pressing concern.
