TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Just over a month after the United Auto Workers (UAW) strike came to an end, employees at the Toledo Jeep Assembly Complex are facing another round of potential layoffs, raising concerns about job security.

Parent company Stellantis has issued a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice to UAW Local 12 leadership, revealing plans for mass layoffs that could impact 1,225 employees at the Jeep Assembly Complex. The layoffs are anticipated to begin as early as February 5 and may last until February 19. Within the affected workforce, 131 production operators and team members, along with 1,094 supplemental employees, are at risk of losing their jobs.

One UAW member and Jeep employee, who requested anonymity, disclosed receiving an automated call notifying her of the impending layoffs. Expressing discontentment with the UAW agreement, she acknowledged the possibility of layoffs but was taken aback by their timing so soon after the completion of negotiations.

In light of these developments, 13 Action News reached out to UAW Local 12 leadership for comment, and further updates are awaited.

The news of potential mass layoffs has created a sense of uncertainty and concern among Toledo Jeep Assembly Complex employees. Having just returned to work after the UAW strike concluded, they now face the unfortunate prospect of another disruption to their livelihoods.

It remains to be seen how UAW Local 12 leadership will respond to the WARN notice and how they plan to support affected employees during this challenging period. As the February timeline approaches, employees anxiously await more information and clarity regarding their future within the company.
