In an eye-opening move at the United Nations (UN), Israel's ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, presented a horrifying video footage on Thursday, showcasing a gruesome Hamas attack on October 7th. Erdan displayed the video during a General Assembly session, providing a chilling glimpse into the violence perpetrated by the Palestinian militants.

The brief video captured by Erdan depicted a Hamas fighter attempting to decapitate a man using a garden tool, as he repeatedly struck the victim's neck while shouting "Allahu Akbar." The victim, as clarified by Erdan, was neither Israeli nor Jewish but an agricultural worker hailing from Thailand.

By sharing this footage, Erdan aimed to demonstrate the brutal tactics employed by Hamas militants. Diplomats in attendance were confronted with the stark reality of the situation in the Gaza Strip, highlighting the need for urgent action to address the ongoing conflict.

In a significant gesture, Israeli diplomats had placed QR codes at every seat, inviting attendees to scan them in order to access more information about Hamas' atrocities and their impact on Gaza's civilian population. The QR codes directed viewers to photos and videos related to the October 7th attack, further emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

The presentation by Israel's envoy comes before the General Assembly is scheduled to vote on Friday on a resolution put forward by Arab states, calling for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The resolution is aimed at ending the intense hostilities that have led to a substantial loss of life and extensive damage in the Gaza Strip.

Israel, in response to the attack that claimed the lives of 1,400 people, has taken a firm stance vowing to eliminate Hamas, the ruling authority in Gaza. In addition to aerial strikes, Israel has imposed a siege on Gaza and is preparing for a potential ground invasion in order to counter the ongoing threat posed by the militants.

Representing the Arab states, Jordan's Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, accused Israel of transforming Gaza into an enduring "hell on earth," with significant long-term consequences for its residents. Stressing the immense impact on Palestinian civilians, Safadi called for a cessation of hostilities and a concerted effort to end the suffering experienced by the population.

In a strong sentiment echoed by Palestinian UN envoy Riyad Mansour, he questioned the double standards applied by certain nations in addressing the loss of lives. Mansour highlighted the disparity in international response, emphasizing the need for urgency in addressing the escalating death toll among Palestinians.

As the international community grapples with the ongoing conflict, the disturbing video shown by Israel's envoy serves as a stark reminder of the brutal reality on the ground. The General Assembly's vote on the proposed ceasefire resolution will likely set the path for future actions aimed at bringing a halt to the violence and establishing the much-needed peace in the region.
