In an update regarding the ongoing investigation into Republican Representative George Santos of New York, the House Ethics Committee stated on Tuesday that it will disclose its upcoming actions concerning the matter on or before November 17, 2023.

Fellow members of the New York delegation recently filed a privileged resolution, which could lead to a vote on Santos' expulsion from the House as early as Wednesday. However, for the measure to pass, it would require a two-thirds majority in the chamber.

Adding to the developments, US District Judge Joanna Seybert has scheduled Santos' trial for September 9, 2024.

In response to these developments, Santos expressed his stance, stating on X on Monday, "I will not beg for my constitutional rights. I will let my colleagues make their decision without my interference."

Furthermore, in a separate message on X last week, Santos firmly declared that he will not resign. He emphasized his entitlement to due process, stating, "I'm entitled to due process and not a predetermined outcome as some are seeking."

The House Ethics Committee's decision to continue the investigation indicates that the allegations against George Santos warrant further examination. The panel's announcement, set to be made on or before November 17, will shed more light on the upcoming course of action and provide clarity on the next steps to be taken.

It remains to be seen how this investigation will unfold and what impact it might have on Santos' political future. As the House Ethics Committee prepares to reveal its next move, all eyes are on the outcome and the potential consequences for the New York representative.
