In a defiant speech on Tuesday, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah declared that his organization would persist in its attacks on Israel until the war in Gaza comes to an end. Nasrallah dismissed the efforts by the international community to curb the escalating conflict and prevent its further spread in the region.

Addressing his supporters, Nasrallah emphasized that the front in southern Lebanon stands in solidarity with Gaza, providing support and assistance to the Palestinian resistance. He stated that Hezbollah's attacks on Israel would only cease when Israeli aggression against Gaza stops within an agreement with the Palestinian resistance.

Reacting to threats by Israeli officials of a large-scale war if Hezbollah refuses to halt its assaults, Nasrallah brushed them aside, asserting that Israel lacks the capacity to impose conditions on Lebanon. He maintained that Israel is currently weak and in crisis, evident from its protracted battle in Gaza which it failed to conclude over the course of four months.

Highlighting the significance of Hezbollah's decision to launch attacks on Israel, Nasrallah argued that it has helped to stabilize the balance of deterrence. He claimed that Lebanon possesses a real deterrent power, asserting that a weaker and deterred Israel poses a lesser threat to the region.

Nasrallah attributed the origin of Israel's establishment in the region as a disaster for all countries and peoples in the area. He argued that a strong Israel could be a danger to the region while a weak and fearful Israel would be less catastrophic. For Lebanon specifically, a strong Israel represents a direct threat, while a deterred Israel could potentially diminish the danger it poses.

Expressing dissatisfaction with international delegations attempting to intervene and calm the situation, Nasrallah accused them of prioritizing Israeli interests and disregarding Hezbollah's demands. He also called upon the Lebanese government to make additional demands to be incorporated into UNSC Resolution 1701.

Nasrallah concluded his speech by asserting that Lebanon is in a strong and proactive position, urging the government to assert its stance in the ongoing conflict.

As tensions continue to escalate, Lebanon finds itself facing the challenge of navigating through this tumultuous period, with the consequences of the conflict in Gaza reverberating throughout the region.
