Hundreds of thousands of people rallied across the world on Saturday, joining the "global day of action for Palestine" to protest against the ongoing war in Gaza and call for an immediate ceasefire. The demonstrations, organized in various cities, aimed to show solidarity with Palestinians and raise awareness about the atrocities happening in Gaza.

In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, people gathered at the United States embassy to send a strong message to Israel's staunch ally. Holding up placards that read "Stop the genocide" and "Bombing children is not self-defense," demonstrators demanded an end to Israel's offensive and criticized the US for vetoing United Nations resolutions calling for a ceasefire.

Similarly, thousands of protesters in Jakarta, Indonesia, waved Indonesian and Palestinian flags outside the US embassy, calling for a boycott of Israel and an immediate ceasefire. Johannesburg, South Africa, also saw a demonstration outside the US consulate, with many accusing the US of complicity in the bombardment of the Palestinian people.

These global protests were further fueled by South Africa's case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), where Israel rejected accusations of genocide in Gaza. Israel argued that its actions were in self-defense following an attack by Hamas and denied any genocidal intent towards the Palestinian people.

The protest movement hoped to educate people not only about the ongoing bloodshed but also about the historical context of the Israeli occupation. Demonstrators emphasized the need for a ceasefire and sufficient humanitarian assistance for Gaza.

In London, thousands gathered at Bank Junction for the National March for Palestine organized by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign. Husam Zomlot, Palestine's ambassador to the UK, joined the protesters, alongside the appearance of Little Amal, a giant puppet symbolizing a Syrian child refugee standing in solidarity with Palestinian children.

Meanwhile, in Washington DC, demonstrators expressed their dissatisfaction with the Biden administration's handling of the war and called for an end to escalating US attacks in Yemen. The protesters heckled President Joe Biden, labeling him as "Genocide Joe" and chanting "we will remember in November."

The global protests reflected a growing sentiment of anger and frustration over the injustice in Gaza. Demonstrators vowed to continue applying pressure until Palestine is free, believing that their efforts are contributing to the long-term quest for justice.

As the demonstrations took place, the death toll in Gaza continued to climb, with Palestinian health officials reporting that the conflict had claimed the lives of 23,843 people and injured more than 60,317. The global outcry emphasizes the urgency for an end to hostilities and a lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
