In a shocking development, a French senator has been preliminarily charged with drugging a fellow female lawmaker with ecstasy with the aim of carrying out a rape or sexual assault, according to officials from the Paris prosecutor's office. The senator, identified as Guerriau, was charged after the alleged victim, Josso, filed a criminal complaint.

The incident came to light when Josso recounted how Guerriau had grabbed a small plastic bag containing something white from a drawer in his kitchen, as revealed by her lawyer, Julia Minkowski. Subsequent tests confirmed that Josso had ecstasy in her system, further strengthening her case against the senator.

Following the complaint, police conducted a search of Guerriau's office and home, during which they discovered ecstasy, as reported by broadcasting station RMC. As a result, Guerriau has also been indicted for possession of drugs, in addition to the charges related to the alleged drugging and assault.
