Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Jamahal Hill, has been arrested and charged with one count of misdemeanor aggravated domestic violence, according to the Kent County Sheriff's Office in Michigan. The arrest, which took place on Monday, involved an alleged incident of violence against Hill's brother resulting in serious or aggravated injury.

The news was initially reported by TMZ, and the Kent County Sheriff's Department confirmed the arrest to MMA Junkie. However, further details regarding the incident have not yet been released, as the arresting agency, the Kentwood Police Department, has not responded to inquiries.

Online records indicate that Hill is scheduled to appear in court on January 22. The 32-year-old athlete has not competed since January, when he claimed the light heavyweight title by defeating Glover Teixeira in the UFC 283 headliner. He later relinquished the title in July after sustaining an Achilles tendon tear during a pickup basketball game among UFC fighters during International Fight Week in Las Vegas.

Hill's return to action is anticipated in the first half of 2024, but this recent legal development may have implications for his fighting career. The UFC and relevant authorities will likely monitor the situation closely as it unfolds.
