In a fiery exchange on Fox News, former President Donald Trump and New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu engaged in a war of words centered around age. Sununu, who has endorsed Nikki Haley for president, took jabs at Trump's age, while Trump fired back with insults aimed at Sununu's performance during his presidential run.

The tense conversation began when Sununu mocked the former president, criticizing his ability to articulate his thoughts off the teleprompter. "This is the guy that was blaming Nikki Haley for Jan. 6... If he's off the teleprompter, he can barely keep a cogent thought," Sununu remarked, before adding, "This guy is nearly 80 years old."

However, Fox News host Harris Faulkner quickly interjected, correcting Sununu by stating, "He's 77." Sununu responded dismissively, remarking, "Yeah, that's nearly 80. We'll do math later."

The age-related banter comes as Sununu throws his support behind Nikki Haley, Trump's former United Nations ambassador, in the upcoming primary election in New Hampshire. The former president, in turn, took a swipe at both Sununu and Haley in a social media post, criticizing their performances and questioning their credibility.

Trump specifically targeted Sununu's appearances on Fox News, expressing his disdain for the governor's involvement in the media. "Why does Fox keep putting New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu on??? Every time I mention his name at a Rally, they BOOO like crazy," wrote Trump. He also referred to Sununu as a "loser" and accused him of being "all jacked up on something."

The spat between Trump and Sununu highlights the growing tension within the Republican Party as potential candidates jockey for position ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Age, cognitive abilities, and endorsements have become hot topics of discussion as the party seeks a clear frontrunner.

As political rivals continue to exchange verbal blows, the focus now shifts to the New Hampshire primary election and how Sununu's endorsement of Haley may impact the race.

It remains to be seen how this exchange will affect public perception of the former president and Governor Sununu, and whether their clash over age will become a recurring theme in the coming months.
