In a shocking turn of events, the Sarasota County School Board in Florida has passed a resolution recommending the resignation of one of its members, Bridget Ziegler. The resolution comes in the wake of a high-profile rape investigation involving her husband, Christian Ziegler, who serves as the GOP state chairman.

The school board, unable to directly oust Bridget Ziegler, voted 4-1 in favor of urging her to step down. However, Ziegler, who voted against the measure, dismissed it as "toothless" and showed no intention of resigning. Despite the resolution, she remained on the board after the vote.

The resolution was introduced by Board Chair Karen Rose, who expressed her shock and deep sadness over the rape allegations against Christian Ziegler. The couple had publicly admitted to engaging in a previous threesome with the accuser, adding further complexity to the situation. Rose emphasized that their continued presence would cause irreparable distractions from the critical mission of the school board.

Board member Tim Enos stressed that it is ultimately up to Bridget Ziegler to decide whether to step down. Only Florida's governor has the power to remove a school board member, and that too, under certain conditions, such as a criminal charge. Enos emphasized the importance of focusing on education rather than politics in the boardroom, with the well-being of the students as the top priority.

Bridget Ziegler, known as the co-founder of the conservative parental rights group Moms for Liberty, has been serving on the Sarasota County School Board since 2014. She was appointed to the board by former Republican Governor Rick Scott and has previously served as its chair.

Ahead of the board meeting, several dozen protesters gathered outside, demanding Ziegler's resignation. Signs reading "Ban Bridget, not books" could be seen, accompanied by chants calling for her departure.

The investigation revolves around a woman's claim that Christian Ziegler raped her at her apartment in early October. According to documents, the three-way sexual encounter had been planned, but Bridget Ziegler was unable to attend. The accuser alleges that Christian Ziegler showed up regardless and sexually assaulted her.

Disturbingly, it has been reported that Ziegler filmed himself engaging in the act with the accuser. A graphic video apparently showed the woman being bent over a piece of furniture in the bedroom, with audible instructions from her to Christian Ziegler. The Republican State Chairman maintains that the encounter was consensual and has not been charged with any crime thus far.

Prominent figures such as US Senator Rick Scott, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and other state Republican leaders have called on Christian Ziegler to step down from his position. However, he remains defiant, citing false allegations and a commitment to their mission as reasons for staying on.

The Zieglers' vocal support for traditional family values, as demonstrated through Bridget Ziegler's endorsement of the controversial "Don't Say Gay" law and their involvement in Moms for Liberty, has invited accusations of hypocrisy. Critics argue that their actions contradict their proclaimed commitment to conservative values.

The Republican Party of Florida is convening an emergency meeting in Orlando, scheduled for Sunday, to decide whether to force Bridget Ziegler's resignation as chairman. The outcome of this meeting is highly anticipated.
