In the early hours of Thursday morning, tragedy struck Southeast Portland's Centennial neighborhood as a man lost his life in a shooting incident, according to the Portland Police Bureau. The incident occurred at an apartment located in the 16500 block of Southeast Bush Street. The police received a distressing report at 1:24 a.m., alerting them to the presence of a gunshot victim.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered a wounded man at the scene. Sadly, the victim, whose identity has not yet been released to the public, succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.

The shooting brings concern to the forefront, as it marks the potential 71st homicide of the year in Portland if officially classified as such. Last year, the city experienced an unprecedented 101 homicides, setting a grim record for violent incidents.

Presently, no arrests have been made in connection with this case. Detectives are actively investigating the incident, seeking clues and information that may lead to the apprehension of the shooter or shooters involved.
