In a heartfelt meeting on Wednesday, President Biden met with the families of eight Americans believed to be held hostage by Hamas. Among the attendees were family members of recently released 4-year-old hostage, Abigail Edan, whose parents tragically lost their lives at the hands of Hamas militants.

Jonathan Dekel-Chen, father of Sagui Dekel-Chen, spoke to the press after the meeting, expressing his gratitude towards President Biden and his administration. "We could have no better friend in Washington or in the White House than President Biden himself," Dekel-Chen said, highlighting the hope and support shared among the families.

Since October 7, four American hostages have been safely released, marking a glimmer of hope for their loved ones. The release of Abigail Edan, who witnessed the murder of her parents, has brought some solace during these difficult times. Her great-aunt, Liz Hirsh Naftali, spoke on behalf of the families, emphasizing their unity and desire for a Christmas miracle. "We are all one big family looking to get all of these people's sons and fathers and mothers out," Naftali said, expressing their shared hope for the safe return of their loved ones.

Here is what we currently know about the remaining eight Americans still held hostage in Gaza:

1. Edan Alexander, a recent graduate of Tenafly High School in Bergen County, New Jersey, was serving in the Israel Defense Forces near the Gaza Strip when he went missing.

2. Itay Chen, a dual U.S.-Israeli citizen who grew up in New York City, was also a member of the IDF. He last contacted his family during an attack on his base near Gaza before losing communication.

3. Sagui Dekel-Chen, an Israeli-American, was captured by Hamas at Kibbutz Nir Oz while defending his pregnant wife and their two young daughters.

4. Hersh Goldberg-Polin, another dual U.S.-Israeli citizen, was last seen being abducted from the Supernova music festival near the Gaza border. He lost part of his arm during a Hamas attack.

5. Gad Haggai and Judith Weinstein, a married couple, were last heard from when Weinstein sent a video of an alert system going off near their Kibbutz Nir Oz home. Reports suggest that Haggai was seriously injured and an ambulance sent to their location was hit by a rocket.

6. Noah Neutra, a dual U.S.-Israeli national and tank commander, disappeared near Gaza during the Hamas attack. Neutra had a strong connection to Israel due to his parents being Holocaust survivors.

7. Keith Siegel, originally from North Carolina, and his wife, Aviva, were captured by Hamas from their Kibbutz Kfar Aza home. Aviva was recently released during the Israel-Hamas truce.

As the families anxiously await the safe return of their loved ones, their hope remains unshaken. Their determination to reunite their family members has been bolstered by the support and compassion shown by President Biden and his administration.

The holiday season serves as a reminder of the importance of unity and miracles. The families of the hostages are holding onto the belief that a Christmas miracle will grant them the joyous reunion they long for. They continue to rally together, remaining resilient as they navigate this challenging and uncertain journey.
