The estranged husband of Shakeira Yvonne Rucker, a 37-year-old mother of four, has been formally charged with her murder, according to authorities in Orange County, Florida. Rucker was reported missing by her family in November, stating that they had last seen her on November 11. A month later, her body was discovered in a storage unit registered to her estranged husband, Cory Hill.

The Office of the State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit announced on Friday that charges have been filed against Hill for the murder of Rucker. At the time of the discovery of Rucker's body, Hill was already in custody on unrelated charges. He had been booked into the Orange County Jail on November 13 for an unrelated shooting incident, where he was charged with four counts of attempted murder for allegedly shooting at a former girlfriend and her family.

Following the discovery of Rucker's body, which exhibited apparent gunshot wounds, prosecutors have now added an additional charge of Second Degree Murder (With a Firearm) against Hill. The investigation into Rucker's disappearance had transitioned into a homicide investigation after her body was found in the storage unit.

Authorities became aware of the storage unit after receiving a complaint about a foul smell emanating from it. Once opened, deputies discovered Rucker's lifeless body. The State Attorney's Office has stated that they will be seeking a first-degree murder indictment in Rucker's homicide.

Rucker's family has created a GoFundMe page to support her four children, aged between 7 and 18. Meanwhile, Hill is currently being held without bond due to his November arrest for attempted second-degree murder and other related charges.

Due to procedural rules, the state is presently limited to filing a second-degree murder charge in the case, but they plan to present the case to the Orange County Grand Jury for a potential first-degree murder indictment.

CNN has made attempts to contact the public defender listed as Hill's legal representation for comment, but there has been no response at the time of writing.
