In a recent report, it has been revealed that Larry Ellison, the co-founder of Oracle and a Tesla board member, extended an invitation to Elon Musk to seek respite from alleged drug use at his Hawaii estate. Concerns had been mounting among board members about Musk's behavior, prompting Ellison to reach out to his fellow billionaire in the winter of 2022, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Musk, the visionary entrepreneur behind companies like SpaceX and the social media platform X, has openly acknowledged his use of ketamine for depression treatment. However, there have been reports suggesting that he has also engaged in recreational drug usage, including LSD and ecstasy, with board members such as Steve Jurvetson and Antonio Gracias.

The Tesla board consists of eight members who have personal relationships with Musk and have amassed significant holdings, valued at hundreds of millions of dollars. This is considerably more than directors of other publicly traded companies. The Journal reports that Musk has fostered a culture where friends and board members are expected to consume drugs with him, creating an environment of fear that not doing so would upset the CEO.

Larry Ellison, known as Musk's "very close friend," owns a majority of the Hawaiian island of Lana'i and has reportedly hosted Musk on multiple occasions. As Ellison reached out to Musk, the Tesla CEO attended a party in Hollywood Hills where he allegedly consumed a liquid form of ecstasy from a water bottle, with his personal bodyguards even asking for privacy for the act. Musk has also attended drug-fueled gatherings with his brother Kimbal, who is also a Tesla board member, at Hotel El Ganzo in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico.

Last month, the Journal published an article claiming that Musk used cocaine, ecstasy, LSD, and magic mushrooms. In response, Musk took to X, his social media platform, to deny the allegations, stating that no traces of drugs or alcohol were found. Musk's marijuana use during a 2018 interview on Joe Rogan's podcast also resulted in random drug testing by the federal government due to SpaceX's NASA contractor requirements.

The Washington Post has sought comments from Ellison, Musk, and Tesla's board members regarding the recent report. It remains to be seen how this development may impact Musk's leadership and the future direction of Tesla, as the company continues its revolution in the electric vehicle and renewable energy industries.
