Driver Suspected of DUI Crashes into Massachusetts State Police Cruiser, Injuring Trooper

In the early hours of Saturday, a driver is believed to have operated a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, leading to a collision with a Massachusetts State Police cruiser and causing injury to a state trooper, according to authorities. The incident occurred shortly before 12:40 a.m. on Route 24 South in West Bridgewater, as reported by the trooper involved in the traffic stop.

The state trooper was outside of his cruiser at the time of the crash, conducting routine duties when the impact occurred. As a result of the collision, the trooper's vehicle was propelled into him, causing injury. Officials have confirmed that three individuals, including the suspected impaired driver, were transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton for the treatment of minor injuries sustained in the accident.

The driver responsible for striking the state trooper's cruiser has been charged with OUI-liquor, as stated by the Massachusetts State Police. Authorities are treating this incident as a suspected case of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Following the crash, Route 24 South was temporarily closed at the Route 123 junction in Brockton. Traffic was redirected onto Route 123, causing delays in the vicinity. However, by shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, that section of Route 24 had reopened.

Law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the incident to gather additional information surrounding the suspected DUI crash.
