Driver Shot on 405 Freeway in Sherman Oaks Area
SHERMAN OAKS, LOS ANGELES - In a shocking incident that occurred early in the morning, a driver was shot on the 405 Freeway near the Burbank Boulevard off-ramp. As a result, police were forced to close down the northbound lanes in order to conduct a thorough investigation of the scene.
The incident was reported at approximately 5 a.m. when a Chevy Bolt crashed into the center divider on the northbound side of the freeway. Responding officers and paramedics discovered that the driver had sustained a gunshot wound. The injured driver was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, although their current condition remains unknown.
At this time, authorities have not released any information regarding a potential suspect. However, they have noted that road rage could potentially be a factor in the shooting.
Due to the investigation taking place, early morning traffic on the northbound side of the freeway was heavily impacted. While two lanes remained open for several hours, three other lanes were closed throughout that time. In order to conduct a thorough search for evidence, all northbound lanes were shut down again around 8 a.m. This closure lasted for approximately four hours, with lanes reopening around noon.
It is worth noting that an earlier version of this story mistakenly stated that the incident occurred in Van Nuys. The correct location of the incident is in the neighboring Sherman Oaks neighborhood.
As authorities continue their investigation, anyone with information related to this incident is urged to come forward and assist in the ongoing efforts to bring the shooter to justice.
