A devastating plane crash near Greenfield on Sunday resulted in the loss of many lives, according to local authorities. The Greenfield police took to Facebook to inform the public that rescue crews and investigators were dispatched to the scene of the crash off Oak Hill Acres Road, where they unfortunately discovered no survivors.

Greenfield Deputy Police Chief William Gordon stated that authorities received a distress call about the crash shortly after 11:25 a.m. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed via email that the aircraft involved was a Beechcraft Baron 55, which had crashed in Leydon, north of Greenfield. Three individuals were onboard the ill-fated plane, as confirmed by both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
The NTSB, responsible for investigating the accident, reported that the crash occurred "under unknown circumstances" near the Leyden Wildlife Management Area. Massachusetts State Police spokesperson Dave Procopio revealed that state troopers received reports of the plane crash at around 11:45 a.m. Detectives promptly arrived at the scene and tragically discovered multiple individuals with fatal injuries.
