WHITE LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A large fire broke out at a crude oil refinery plant in White Lake Township on Friday, November 24, causing panic and concerns among local residents. The cause of the fire is currently unknown and under investigation.

The explosion was so powerful that it could be heard for miles, shaking the entire community. Witnesses described the scene as frightening, with Carl Matheny stating, "Everybody was just in an absolute panic. If I'm being honest, it was the scariest thing that I've ever witnessed in my entire life."

Matheny and his family were among those forced to evacuate their homes after the oil well nearby exploded. Living just across from the well, the impact of the blasts was devastating. "The first blast knocked everything off the walls and caught everybody's attention," Matheny recalled. "The next one goes off and our windows were literally caving in from the blast itself."

Although some reports on social media suggested a problematic track record for the oil well, the fire department clarified that these claims were untrue. They confirmed that there have been no previous hostile fires at the location. However, some residents in the area remain uneasy about the incident and its proximity to schools. Jesse Siordia expressed his concern, saying, "It's a little concerning for these types of things to be in communities like this, especially where there's a high school, a couple of middle schools."

Matheny echoed Siordia's sentiment, stating, "We actually won't accept them being here. It was that bad."

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire. Authorities are now working diligently to determine the cause of the incident and ensure the safety of the community.
