According to a recent poll conducted by Monmouth University, approximately one-third of Republicans believe in a baseless conspiracy theory that accuses pop superstar Taylor Swift of being involved in a covert government effort to assist Joe Biden in winning the 2024 presidential election. The absurd theory gained traction in right-wing media circles before Super Bowl LVIII, alleging that Swift's relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was orchestrated by the government as part of a larger psychological operations plot.

The conspiracy theory suggests that if the Chiefs emerged victorious in the Super Bowl, it would provide Swift with an even bigger platform to endorse Biden, thereby swaying the 2024 presidential election in his favor. However, there is absolutely no factual evidence to support this outlandish claim, which has quickly moved from the fringe into public discourse.

The Monmouth University poll found that 46% of the 902 US adults surveyed had heard something about the conspiracy theory, with 18% admitting to believing it. Notably, of those who believed the theory, 42% had not even heard about it prior to being contacted for the poll, implying a predisposition towards conspiracy theories or bias against the former president.

Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute, remarked on the poll findings, stating, "The supposed Taylor Swift PsyOp conspiracy has gained traction among a significant number of Trump supporters. Even those who were unaware of it before being polled are inclined to accept it as credible."

Swift, who endorsed Biden ahead of the 2020 election and has consistently encouraged her fans to vote in recent years, has been subjected to attacks by vocal proponents of this conspiracy theory. Individuals such as former presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy, conspiracy theorist Jack Posobiec, and right-wing media personality Benny Johnson have been notably involved in promoting this baseless claim.

Most notably, former President Donald Trump himself attempted to pressure Swift before the Super Bowl, suggesting on his social media platform that she would be "disloyal" to him if she endorsed a Biden presidency. Trump even expressed his liking for Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce, despite their differing ideologies.

It is important to emphasize that this conspiracy theory lacks any credible evidence and has been discredited by experts. Swift's involvement in a covert government plan to assist Biden in the 2024 presidential election is nothing more than a false and unfounded claim propagated by conspiracy theorists.
