A storm system approaching Colorado on Sunday is expected to bring a mix of rain, snow, and gusty winds across the state through Monday. The impact of the storm will primarily be felt in Denver and the Front Range area, where rain showers are anticipated to begin Sunday evening during the Broncos game.
According to meteorological reports, intermittent showers will persist for approximately 24 hours, with most of the precipitation being in the form of rain for locations below 6,000 feet, including Denver. While a few snowflakes may mix in, no snow accumulation is expected in the Denver metro area.
However, for areas situated above 6,000 feet such as Castle Rock, the Palmer Divide, and the foothills, some minor accumulation of snow is possible, with amounts generally staying under 2 inches. Even in Colorado's mountain regions, snowfall is predicted to be limited, with no more than 4 inches expected in Summit County.
Aside from the potential snowfall, Monday will be characterized by cool temperatures and gusty winds, with wind gusts reaching over 30 mph at times in Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins.
Fortunately, the weather is expected to improve by Tuesday and Wednesday, offering ideal travel conditions throughout Colorado and the region. The metro area can anticipate temperatures reaching the upper 60s on Wednesday. However, a shift to mostly cloudy and cooler weather is anticipated on Thanksgiving Day. Moreover, residents are advised to prepare for much colder weather and a chance of snow on Friday, resulting in a likelihood that the day could be declared a "First Alert Weather Day" due to its potential impact on holiday travels and shopping plans.
Looking further ahead, the coming weekend is also predicted to bring chilly temperatures, ensuring that residents of Colorado should be prepared for wintry conditions in the coming days.
While these weather projections are subject to change, it is advisable for residents and visitors to stay updated with the latest forecast and take necessary precautions while traveling or engaging in outdoor activities.
