In a weather update for Central Florida, a cold front is expected to move through the area, bringing heavy rain and the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms. The rain is predicted to begin early Saturday morning, with the system exiting by the early afternoon hours.

According to meteorologists, Central Florida is under a "Marginal Risk" category, which indicates that a few thunderstorms in the region could turn strong to severe. The associated hazards include frequent lightning, powerful wind gusts ranging from 40-50+ mph, localized flooding due to heavy rainfall, and a slight possibility of brief tornadoes.

Throughout the day, residents can expect breezy to windy conditions, with southeast winds blowing at speeds of 15-20 mph. Higher gusts are also possible. The region will experience mostly cloudy skies as southerly winds bring in a warmer air mass, resulting in above-normal temperatures on Saturday.

As the evening approaches, the threat of stronger showers and storms is expected to diminish. The cold front will then make its way towards southern Florida, where it is predicted to stall on Sunday before lifting northward as a warm front on Monday.

While a temporary respite from severe weather is anticipated, meteorologists warn that the next widespread threat of storms and showers is likely to occur on Tuesday.
