CNN has announced that it will be organizing a series of events featuring two Republican presidential primary candidates who are aiming to challenge former President Trump in the upcoming race. The network will be hosting town halls and debates in January, providing an important platform for these contenders to present their visions and policies to the American public.

The first town hall will feature Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on January 4th. The event will be held at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa, and will be moderated by CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins. This live session will give Governor DeSantis an opportunity to showcase his ideas and engage in a direct conversation with the voters.

Later that evening at 10 p.m. EST, CNN will host another town hall at the same venue, this time with former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley. CNN anchor Erin Burnett will serve as the moderator for this event. Ambassador Haley will have the chance to address the audience, highlight her policy proposals, and differentiate herself from both former President Trump and her Republican competitors.

In addition to the town halls, CNN will also be organizing two Republican presidential primary debates. The first debate will take place in Des Moines on January 10th, followed by the second debate in Goffstown, New Hampshire, on January 21st. These debates will likely be crucial moments for the candidates to articulate their positions, challenge one another, and potentially gain or lose momentum in the race.

Both Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley have been vying for second place in the Republican primary, trailing behind former President Trump, who currently holds a substantial lead in the polls. These opportunities to directly engage with the voters through CNN's town halls and debates will be crucial for DeSantis and Haley to make their cases and gain support in their pursuit of the nomination.

As the race for the Republican presidential nomination heats up, CNN's town halls and debates will serve as important platforms for these challengers to present their ideas, connect with voters, and potentially gain ground on the current front-runner, former President Trump. American citizens will have the opportunity to witness firsthand the policies, visions, and leadership qualities of the candidates looking to secure the Republican nomination in the 2024 presidential race.
