In a tragic incident, a charter plane bound for Moscow crashed in the remote and mountainous region of Badakhshan in northern Afghanistan. The Russian aviation watchdog reported on Sunday that four individuals managed to survive the crash, while the fate of two other passengers remains unclear.

According to the Taliban provincial officials, four survivors have been taken under the care of Taliban administration officials who reached the crash site. Regrettably, two passengers did not survive the ordeal.

Zabiullah Mujahid, the top spokesman for the Taliban administration, confirmed that the pilot was among the four survivors. He stated that their investigative team, known as the Islamic Emirate, is actively searching for and providing assistance to the remaining individuals.

The Russian-registered charter plane, a French-made Dassault Aviation Falcon 10 jet manufactured in 1978, disappeared from radar screens over Afghanistan a day prior to the official confirmation. The plane was operating as a charter ambulance flight, transporting a bedridden Russian patient in serious condition from Thailand's Pattaya to Moscow. The patient's husband, who is also a Russian citizen and a private entrepreneur, accompanied her on the flight.

Reports indicate that approximately 25 minutes before vanishing from radar, the pilot issued a warning regarding low fuel and expressed intentions to land at an airport in Tajikistan. Subsequently, the pilot reported the failure of both engines, which led to the plane's unfortunate crash.

The details shared by Russian news outlet SHOT, citing an unnamed source, regarding the pilot's warnings and engine failures are still unverified by Reuters.

India's civil aviation authority confirmed that the plane was neither a scheduled commercial flight nor an Indian chartered aircraft. The owner of the aircraft, a small Russian company called Athletic Group LLC, has yet to comment on the incident.

The Taliban-run Afghan aviation ministry stated that the plane's planned route did not include passing through Afghan airspace. They suspect that technical issues forced the plane to divert from its original path. The ministry has initiated an investigation into the matter.

Afghanistan police received reports of a plane crash in a remote area of Badakhshan, which is located over 200 km (124 miles) away from the provincial capital of Fayzabad. A team has been dispatched to the crash site to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

As the investigation continues, the focus remains on identifying the causes that led to the crash and understanding the exact fate of the remaining passengers. The aviation authorities from multiple countries, including Russia and Afghanistan, are working together to uncover all relevant details and provide support to the survivors and the families affected by this devastating event.
