In a lawsuit filed in federal court on Tuesday, Madison Square Garden CEO James Dolan and disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein have been accused of sexually assaulting a massage therapist a decade ago. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles, alleges that Kellye Croft, then a 23-year-old massage therapist, encountered Dolan while on tour with the Eagles in 2013.
According to the suit, Dolan was "extremely assertive" and pressured Croft into unwanted sexual intercourse during a massage. Despite her attempts to put an end to the situation, the lawsuit claims Dolan continued to exert force and treated her resistance as a challenge. Croft alleges that Dolan grabbed her hands, dragged her to a couch, and forced her hands between his knees. At the time, Dolan was married and over thirty years older than Croft.
Feeling disgusted and terrified, Croft eventually succumbed to Dolan's advances due to the isolation she felt from others on the tour and Dolan's promises to take care of her. The lawsuit highlights Dolan's immense power and influence, which Croft felt left her with no choice but to submit.
Dolan's attorney, E. Danya Perry, vehemently denies the allegations, stating that there is no merit to any of the claims against Dolan. Perry asserts that there is compelling evidence to support Dolan's position, indicating that this is not merely a "he said/she said" matter. The defense team looks forward to proving their stance in court.
The lawsuit also implicates Harvey Weinstein in the alleged assault. Croft claims that Dolan arranged a meeting in a hotel that led to her being sexually assaulted by Weinstein. Weinstein's attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, denies these allegations and asserts that Weinstein vehemently denies the claims. The attorney expresses confidence that the truth will be revealed through litigation.
It is important to note that Weinstein has already been convicted of rape and sexual assault in separate cases in New York in 2020 and Los Angeles in 2022. He is currently serving prison time in New York.
Croft, who had been too traumatized to speak publicly about the events until now, seeks monetary and punitive damages in the lawsuit. Her attorney, Douglas H. Wigdor, emphasizes the importance of holding Dolan accountable for his alleged conduct.
With the filing of this complaint, Croft hopes to bring attention to the harm caused by Dolan and to seek justice. She wants Dolan to acknowledge his actions and take responsibility for the consequences they have had on her life.
As the lawsuit progresses and heads to court, all parties involved await the opportunity to present their evidence and argue their respective positions.
