In a remarkable turn of events, British teenager Alex Batty, who went missing six years ago while on holiday in Spain with his mother and grandfather, has been found in France and is expected to return to the UK soon. Alex, who is now 17 years old, was discovered by a motorist in the foothills of the French Pyrenees, near Toulouse, on Wednesday.

According to reports from the Agence France-Presse news agency, British police officers will be accompanying Alex on his journey back to the UK. The teenager's mother, who does not have parental guardianship, is currently unavailable and her whereabouts remain unknown. French prosecutor Antoine Leroy confirmed that Alex will be flying from France under the supervision of British authorities.

It is believed that Alex has been leading a nomadic lifestyle in spiritual communities alongside his mother and grandfather for the past few years. However, it was during their decision to travel to Finland that the teenager made the choice to leave and embark on a solo journey. He is said to have walked through the mountainous terrain of southern France for four days before ultimately being spotted by a delivery driver, Fabien Accidini, in the middle of the night.

Fabien Accidini generously provided Alex with access to his phone, allowing the teenager to reach out to his legal guardian and grandmother, Susan Caruana. Ms. Caruana, based in Oldham, expressed her excitement and anticipation in being reunited with her long-lost grandson, stating that she "can't wait" for their reunion.

The circumstances surrounding Alex's disappearance and his subsequent journey through Europe remain unclear. Authorities will likely investigate the situation further to determine the details of his disappearance and the nature of his time spent away.

Alex's safe recovery after such a long absence brings hope and relief to his family and community, who have eagerly awaited news of his whereabouts for years. As the teenager makes his way back to the UK, it marks a new chapter in his life, one that will undoubtedly be filled with support and guidance from those who love him.
